TCO and GW inventors enjoyed attending the in-person seminar, "Why is Entrepreneurship as American as Apple Pie?" hosted by the Georgetown University Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) on May 29th. This event was a relaunch of the Innovation 2 Impact (I2I) Seminar Series, an initiative of Georgetown’s OTC aiming to provide for networking and promote discussion on transforming groundbreaking research into tangible solutions while utilizing the power of entrepreneurship.
The seminar featured Dr. Elena Koustova, Director of Office of Translational Initiatives and Program Innovations (OTIPI), at The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), part of the US National Institutes of Health. With her 25 years of experience in translational research Dr. Koustova shared her invaluable insights on how entrepreneurship plays a significant role in deriving real-world solutions from scientific discoveries.
Dr. Koustova also spoke about why U.S.’s robust infrastructure, academic inclination has helped scientific breakthroughs reach their full potential through active execution. She also explored various tools and support systems provided by the United States federal government that bolster the entrepreneurial landscape in the U.S. and would help researchers looking to make real-world impact with their innovations
This seminar brought together a diverse group of Georgetown-affiliated members, researchers and participants from various DMV institutions like GW and concluded with a discussion on innovation and entrepreneurship, offering attendees an opportunity to engage and explore the process of research realization.
