GW ranks among the Top 100 U.S. Universities Granted Utility Patents in 2023!

The George Washington University (GW) ranked 77th in the Top 100 U.S. Universities Granted U.S. Utility Patents for 2023 released by The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) with 19 patents granted last year. The list is an annual ranking created to highlight and celebrate U.S. universities that play a large role in advancing innovation and invention in the U.S. 

Since its inception in 2013, the NAI's Top 100 Worldwide Universities list has spotlighted academic institutions that excel in securing utility patents, reflecting their critical role in the innovation ecosystem. The rankings are based on data from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), emphasizing the importance of patents in translating university research into real-world applications. 

This recognition highlights the efforts of GW's Technology Commercialization Office in advancing inventions. It underscores GW's commitment to fostering a culture of research and development, encouraging faculty and students alike to pursue pioneering ideas and breakthrough inventions.
