GW Licensee Opal HTM recently won funding through a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I award from the National Science Foundation. The award provides $275,000 in non-dilutive funding to further develop technology for tracking equipment usage patterns in hospitals, enabling hospital managers to optimize device inventories and maintenance schedules while improving patient care.

Founded by Connor Roberts (SEAS ’16, ’17), and partnering with Dr. Ekundayo Shittu (SEAS EMSE), Opal HTM is devoted to making healthcare technology management smarter, safer, and more efficient. The company got its start as a GW New Venture Competition finalist and participant in the DC I-Corps program and has gone on to win seed funding from TEDCO and the mHUB Product Impact Fund, in addition to federal funding. With these resources, Opal HTM is actively growing its team, recruiting hospital partners, and preparing to raise institutional investment.
